Bonus point win.

An entertaining, hard fought encounter produced six tries as Abercarn recorded their third consecutive win and inflicted a first defeat on Garndiffaith. The hosts were first on the scoreboard when a Garndiffaith player was penalised for hands in a ruck and outside-half Jamie Baker duly added the three points. Immediately from the kick-off the visitors responded in devastating style and, benefiting from a missed tackle, they scored an excellent try under the posts. Despite Abercarn having the upper hand at scrums, the visitor's back row and three-quarters were in fine fettle and another quick passing move led to their second try of the game which went unconverted. But Abercarn hit back in stunning fashion as centre Jack Davies burst through the heart of the defence and winger Aled Brown crossed over the whitewash. The hosts pack began to get a stranglehold on the game and disrupting a Garndiffaith attacking lineout quick hands across the three-quarters led to centre Davies scoring an excellent try which Baker converted. Both sides got on the wrong side of the referee leading to a flurry of yellow cards. Down to thirteen men, Abercarn again disrupted a Garn lineout and winger Andrew Fraser outpaced the defenders to score under the posts. With the last move of the half good driving play saw the hosts get their try bonus point when flanker Sean Higgins touched down between the sticks and Bakers conversion kick extended their lead to 29 points to 12.

The visitors started the second half well and were duly rewarded with a penalty but that was to be the last time they troubled the scoreboard. Momentum in the game remained with Abercarn and, now playing in the three-quarters, Higgins ran through the middle of the visitors defences to score his second try and earn the Man of the Match award. The subsequent conversion took the final score to 36 points to 15. This Saturday Abercarn travel to Talywain who have always proved a strong challenge in previous encounters.
