Abercarn Welfare Ground Update

Welsh Water has informed the committee that they have formally commissioned their contractor to begin works at Abercarn Welfare Ground in the next few weeks.

Members and supporters will be aware that the pitch has not been suitable to play on since December due to a combination of poor weather conditions and sewage discharching onto the playing area. Welsh Water has identified that Hydraulic Overload is the main cause and will be excavating the pitch to remove the manhole chamber and lay an upsized pipe to the trunk. It is anticipated that this will prevent flooding to the rugby field in the future.

The committee are making arrangements to play the remaining home fixtures of this season, plus our backlog, at alternarive playing fields including Waunfawr Park, Pantside, Newbridge, and Cwmcarn School.
