Another bonus point win.

Abercarn swept aside the challenge of Pill Harriers, scoring six tries and winning their fifth bonus point of their campaign. The home side enjoyed territorial advantage for the first fifteen minutes before Abercarn finally got into their 22 and Josh Steer broke through the defensive line and passed to Jamie Baker to score the first try of the game and he duly added the two points. Flanker, Sean Higgins was having another good game when he showed a clean pair of heels and scrum-half Rhys Morgan collected the ball at pace and touched down over the whitewash. The visitors pack were almost always in control of the game and from an attacking lineout the ball was knocked directly back to hooker Aaron Davies who crossed the line unopposed and at half-time Abercarn were leading by 19 points to nil.

Abercarn began the second half looking to score their fourth try but stout defending and the deteriorating weather meant that they had to work hard to secure the bonus point. It wasn't until the final quarter that outside-half Josh Steer collected the ball from loose play and touched down under the posts. Minutes later flanker Greg Baker scored the visitors fifth try when he crashed through several defenders. To their credit, the Pill side were rewarded for their endeavors when they put together a flowing move to score a converted try. The referee said that the following drop out was to be the last move of the game and Abercarn had the final word when substitute winger Owen Coomer crossed over in the corner and the final score was 38 points to 7.

This was another good team performance by Abercarn and both new signings, Rhys Lloyd and Marc Davies, had solid starts in their first outing for the club. Whilst Rhys Morgan was awarded Man of the Match credit must also go to Richard Partridge who played in all three positions along the front row. Abergavenny are our next opponents at home this Saturday.
