After the euphoria of Wales World Cup win over Australia minds quickly focused on the trek to Abergavenny for what was an unusual 12pm ko.

As usual the U9’s travelled in great numbers ensuring a strong bench. After winning the toss Abercarn were quick to gain a stranglehold deep in Abergavenny territory. Despite the recent downpours the pitch was in decent condition allowing us to look for offloads whenever the opportunity arose. 

By the time half time arrived Abercarn had gained ascendancy on the scoreboard, thanks in no small part to some ferocious tackling leading to several turnovers.

Pressure in the tackle area continued 2nd half allowing Abercarn to add a couple more tries and extend their lead.

A spirited Abergavenny never gave up always looking to play the game the right way, and were rewarded with a few tries of their own.

Final score saw Abercarn come out on top 5-2 with the MoM Award going to Tyler G who threw himself in front of opposition players time after time, with little respect for his own well being!
