Rhymney re-arranged the fixture to be played at Penallta as their home pitch was unplayable due to the inclement weather over the recent weeks. Once again the opposition were low on numbers with Rhymney having just 9 players, Abercarn also had a few boys missing but still had 12 players available for selection. Abercarn started strong and led early with a few individual tries, going into the first interval with a 5-2 lead. The Emerald & Blacks made 3 changes for the second session but with a lack of concentration in the tackle area the lead change hands between the teams with Rhymney going into the 2nd interval leading 8-7. For the final third, Abercarn made further changes and clawed their way back into the game coming out as victors 12-11.
David Beard was awarded MOM for trying hard with the ball in hand and making his first tackle – Well done David!!!
